I understand the “whatever” prayer.  I’ve been there. I notice that usually when I need to pray the most I can’t even mumble a “whatever”—I’m just at a loss altogether.  But as far as worrying about sending a hurricane somewhere else, I agree with Michael—others need to cover their own territory.  Hurricane’s can dissipate.  All you should pray for is not to send it elsewhere, but just for protection wherever you want protection.  Izzy

I recently prayed out of some frustration  this one word -- and it may sound rather silly but all I could come up with was "whatever."   I was struck with the fact of my need AND the fact that He already knew.  I knew that He was already joined to me  --  so, :"whatever, Lord" was all I could come up with.

Brother John, that may have been your finest prayer to date.  Beautiful, simple,
All Him, no self.
I think our Lord was well pleased.
