It just struck me Iz, that the emphasis of a prayer for protection where YOU want protection is kinda a hooray for me and the hell with you type of attitude.  Forgive me if I have misunderstood you. I hear an awful lot of people taking charge, seeking to make God's will conform to their will, when it should be the other way round.

Terry, Can you explain how this is NOT loving others as yourself? Please re-read what I wrote and tell me how that is not loving others? Others need to cover their own territory doesn’t mean you can’t pray for others, just as we on TT have been praying for everyone in Florida.  It just means that we can’t all sit around praying for the weather all over the world every minute of every day—we are responsible to pray for where the Lord has put us first.  And please tell us how you fared through the storm last night.  It seems it was worst south of you. .  But as far as worrying about sending a hurricane somewhere else, I agree with Michael—others need to cover their own territory.   All you should pray for is not to send it elsewhere, just for protection wherever you want protection.  Izzy

And how do you reconcile this with loving others as yourself?
