Terry, I think if you shave all the fur off your rabbits the wind will just
blow right past them; kind of like the Olympic swimmers. Take care my
friend. I hate to go a day w/o your sage advice. Izzy

I cannot get much more in the middle of the panhandle than I am right
now. We are far enough inland that winds in Jackson county are
projected to be eighty-six mph. We have taken one hundred mph before,
so if this thing does not spawn tornados, we will be fine. If the
course does not change, it will simply mean tying up loose stuff and
protecting the rabbits.

Right now, they are under canvas carports, which can't take much more
than thirty mph, so I will have to take the canvas off the four carports
or lose them. The cages are fixed to a framework that is set into the
ground, so I can just let the wind blow through them, but I have to
protect my bunnies. I plan to spred a couple of the canvases on the
floor,in the shop. Then I will put the rabbits in cages I have for
transporting them to market, and put them in the shop until it blows
over. I can't leave because the rabbits and the dog will need food and
water. If I go away, they may not let me come back in time to take care
of the animals, and If I go to a local shelter, I can't take the dog.

As we did last time, we will fill some pots with water to drink, and put
a couple of plastic barrels in the pickup bed and fill them so we have
something to flush the toilet with if necessary. We have a generator,
so we will be able to keep the freezers and refrigerator operating if
need be.

The phones will probably go out, so I may not be able to offer
inspiration or absolute truth to the group, but hard as it may be, I
suspect y'all will struggle along somehow without me. If this happens,
we will probably just kick back and watch TV by candle light. (Yeah, I
know, old joke ).
Terry
