Hi Judy,

To keep me from firing back a rather strong worded post please explain your
meaning more in-depth (I do understand that you are away from home so this
can wait til you return):

Judy says, "I've missed a lot but just read Jonathan's take on the
Palestinians - I wonder why everyone swallows that tale. Just look at a map
and then take a look at the size of Israel compared to the rest of the
countries surrounding it and tell me that they are overloaded. Also there
is no such thing as a Palestinian, these people are descended from the
Philistines, they arn't even genuine arabs."

First of all, my "take on the Palestinians." You mention that it is a
"tale"; in other words that it is fiction. This is very close to calling me
a liar. Please elaborate. If you are referring to the difficulties in
absorbing an entire nation you are making it entirely too simplistic if you
believe land size or even population limit is the issue. The mention of how
difficult this is refers to comments made by the Lebanon government.
Perhaps, I should have been more specific
(http://www.arts.mcgill.ca/mepp/new_prrn/research/papers/koltermann.htm).
Feel free to take a look at a map of the Middle East. Lebanon is what, one
third the size of Israel? Also refer to the statistics given. Note that we
are not talking about a people who want to be assimilated into another
country; we are talking about a people who want to be a people. Living in
Canada I am well aware of the difficulties this brings. I live next to a
province who would like to be its own country (Qubec). Now Canada is one
of the largest countries in the world. We have the space. Space (as in
miles square) is not the issue. When one has two distinct cultures in a
country it creates division. That is the issue.

Secondly, why the comment that "there is no such thing as a Palestinian?"
That "they are not even genuine Arabs?" Do you only like purebreds Judy?
As an Arab nationalist do you feel that the Palestinians are infringing on
what it means to be Arab? Like it or not Palestinian refers to a distinct
group of people. Why quibble about the name? Look at how Slade described
them a few posts ago. Then look at how you did it. Compare the two. Note
the compassion and love in Slade's.

Jonathan

Hey Folk:

We're in GA for the next week. I'm attending a seminar and my husband is
hanging out at the campground where we are staying. Our site is surrounded
by trees and squirrels in them drop acorns on the roof of our camper. This
is country livin' I've missed a lot but just read Jonathan's take on the
Palestinians - I wonder why everyone swallows that tale. Just look at a map
and then take a look at the size of Israel compared to the rest of the
countries surrounding it and tell me that they are overloaded. A
lso there is no such thing as a Palestinian, these people are descended from
the Philistines, they arn't even genuine arabs.

Hope you are all well, I know Izzy is well able to hold the fort :)
Just kidding,

TTYL, judyt
