GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. (ANS) -- New York Times
best-selling author of The Purpose Driven Life, Rick Warren, is set to embark
on a celebration tour surrounding the two-year anniversary of the book’s
release. (Pictured: Rick Warren).
“No one is more amazed that I am that this book has been so widely received and
continues to sell,” said Warren.
“It’s both astonishing and humbling.”
The
Purpose Driven Life has averaged selling nearly 800,000 copies a month since
its release 24 months ago, “an unprecedented feat in the publishing world.” (Pictured:

During the tour, the West Coast author will speak to a variety of East Coast
audiences in 16 events over 12 days. Warren will
speak about “the renewal of purpose happening in America - the grassroots spiritual
awakening that has been reported in dozens of national newspapers.”
“I believe that we are possibly on the verge of a New Reformation in
Christianity and another Great Awakening in our nation,” said Warren. “The signs are everywhere, including
the popularity of this book.”
Warren’s strategy is to use the tour to speak to different groups of what he
calls “cultural influencers” including the media & entertainment (New York
City), military and government (Washington, D.C.), business leaders and
philanthropists (Atlanta), psychologists (Orlando), religious leaders
(Chattanooga, Tenn.), university students (Virginia) and mothers at the
National Convention for Mothers of Preschoolers (Nashville, Tenn.) The tour
kicks off the next 40 Days of Purpose program involving over 10 thousand more
churches worldwide. Nearly 20,000 churches have already completed the program.
Warren is often referred to as “America’s most
influential ministers” (TIME). The Purpose Driven Celebration Tour schedule is
as follows:
Sept 17 - Washington, D.C. The Pentagon, and multiple events
Sept 18 - Orlando.
National Convention of Counselors
Sept 19 - West Point, NY. U.S.
Military Academy
Sept 19-21 - New York City.

Multiple events

Warren is set
to appear on the Today Show on NBC on Sept. 20 to discuss the growing purpose
driven movement and will also be featured in an upcoming edition of NBC’s
Dateline.
The Purpose Driven Life is the bestselling hardback non-fiction book in history
and since its publication has been a mainstay on numerous bestseller lists
including USA Today, Publisher’s Weekly, and The New York Times, where it has
remained for more than 87 consecutive weeks, hitting the No.1 spot over 20
times. It has been named Book of the Year twice, in both 2003 and 2004, by the
Christian Bookseller’s Association. New Man magazine readers voted it, “Book of
the Decade.” Warren
is well-known as a spiritual and social entrepreneur. Peter Drucker called him
“the inventor of perpetual revival” and Forbes magazine has written, “If
Warren’s church was a business it would be compared with Dell, Google or
Starbucks.”
