Morning Judy,
Hope your trip is going well. There is no theory or
speculation in the article below. This would not be considered heresy in a
court of law. That is ridiculous. He begins with a comment on a
caller on the Hannity and Colmes radio show. Now I do not get the Fox News
Channel so I cannot hear all the call in's but I do go to the website and read
transcripts of their show and O'Reilly's on a regular basis. That Hannity
would hang up on someone that would criticize the Republican party is completely
consistent with the Hannity I have read.
The second portion of the article is taken from Bush's
acceptance speech at the Republican Convention. Perhaps you watched it on
television. There are many websites that hold the full text of this
speech. John Leone has not quoted him incorrectly. If you wish I
will get the full text for you and post it here. Leone's argument is
summed up in the following:
To elevate a nation to
the status of an Agent of God is to introduce a wicked form of state worship and
idolatry. The state may be given authority by God (Romans 13), but by
abusing this authority and elevating the state into a realm where only He can
and must reside is the most dangerous form of self-deception
imaginable.
It is this self-deception that I believe Izzy and the
neo-conservative portion of the Republican party has fallen prey
to.
Your comments on Bush inheriting a political mess contain
no facts. In reality Bush inherited a very stable and economically rich
America. Was it a perfect America? Where there no outstanding
issues? Of course not but few Presidents, if any, have inherited such
a stable America. I would think you would remember the euphoria of the
first few months of Bush in office. And for the record I do believe that
Bush is an 'out and out liar'. Never has the White House delivered so much
deception. That is my opinion. I could direct you to hundreds of
books, articles, websites and Christians that have the same opinion as I
do. For some reason this massive amount of deception upsets me more than
most people on this forum. Does this negate the fact that Bush is in an
extremely tough position? Not at all. Do I think he can please
everyone? No. Do I think he pleases God?
No.
I agree with your assessment on the 'party' spirit. I also agree that God can work through President Bush. However, it is my opinion that this has yet to happen. By the way I would be interested in hearing your opinion on Bush actively stating that the God is Islam is the exact same as the God of Christianity; that to pray to one is to pray to the other. If I posted that opinion on Truthtalk I would expect to get forcibly attacked by most members as heretical. Also, now that Bush has 'changed his mind' on civil unions for homosexuals (he now supports them) does this concern you at all? I do understand why there are some people on this forum that will vote for Bush notwithstanding the issues I have brought forward. As the saying goes, better the devil you know.... Jonathan Hughes

speculation. I didn't hear the conversation with Hannity and neither did you so
are we to take his 3rd party report which would be considered heresy in a court
of law and begin to join in and entertain his suspicions because of it? I
think there is some kind of Pollyanna mindset out there with expectations too
high and lofty to ever be fulfilled in this lifetime. We need to get a grip and
remember that George W. inherited a political mess. Unless he is an out and out
liar - he is doing the best he can with what he has to work with and since we do
not have the same facts he has in front of us we are fools to think we can be
his judges.
The "party" spirit is ungodly (no matter what party) and both Congress
and Senate are full of "mixture"; neither candidate or any alternate is perfect.
I don't like what I hear coming from Kerry's own mouth. I understand that George
W. does not have "all wisdom" and is not walking in "all knowledge" but I do
believe he has made a sincere committment to the same Lord and Savior as
me. There is no way he can please everyone but I am willing to trust the
Lord to work through him for our good and for the good of the
Nation. judyt
