PS One thing I thought about while reading Willard was that he has a talent that I also appreciate in David Miller; the ability to express himself through very clear metaphors. I find DavidM does this quite well also, and I always marvel when he comes up with them. JIzzy

What I'm about to say is no joke. I had breakfast with seven people Monday, each of whom had read Willard. They compared 'the Willard gospel' to the 'Kruger gospel'. I believe that to be a fair and accurate comparison.

Lance, Now that you have inserted yourself into my question to Jonathan, insulted and shouted at me, I would appreciate an answer from Jonathan. I did not post a “caricature” of you. I simply asked a straightforward question. For some reason it has caused quite a reaction from you. In Willard’s description of “The Gospel on the Left” I find an amazing similarity to the gospel embraced by you, Jonathan, and John.  I would like to know how you see yourself differently. Izzy

Iff what I said was so then, NO INSULT. I've read everything Willard has written. NO I don't see your charicature of myself or of Jonathan in Divine Conspiracy.

Lance, Please be more specific, as “many of your posts” is a bit vague.  Please clarify how my post was imprecatiing.  I had a real theological question (do you see yourself when the author describes Leftist theology?), and for an answer I am insulted.  I was hoping for an honest answer to my question instead.  Izzy

Why is it that so many of your posts read like imprecatory Psalms? Sadly, I'm aware of just how serious, and certain, you are.

I am VERY serious.  How about yourself, Lance? Izzy

Jonathan, Have you read The Divine Conspiracy? If so, did you recognize yourself in his explanation of the theology of the Left? Izzy

I heartily endorse Izzy's recommendation.  Dallas Willard is well worth reading and digesting.

I am making a book recommendation to any/all of you on TT: The Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard.  I decided to read it, although it looked pretty thick and deep (ie: time consuming!), after reading that the foreword was written by an author I highly respect, Richard Foster.  He writes, "A masterpiece and a wonder...the book I have been searching for all my life."

My husband and I are reading this together (and I cheat and read ahead while he is at work during the day because I can’t wait.) I am struck by how many topics we have discussed on TT that are addressed in this book, and I have barely started.  I am even more struck by the brilliant way the author makes the complicated clear, and excites me about the wonders of Jesus.  I’d like to go into more detail, but will wait to see if anyone is interested.  But, trust me, you cannot read this book w/o being changed!
