Slade, This reminds me of teaching that I have heard about God's plan to pass over the first born for the 2nd born--a pattern reflected throughout scripture, and which pictures Christ. Izzy   -----Original Message----- I understand where you're coming from; I see prophecy as predictive as well and I think God was telling the mother that the younger boy was to be as the firstborn... not because deceit would accomplish this, but because it's part of the overall plan of preferring the underdog.
