If the Levitical Priesthood is no longer relevant than
why do we need Jesus as our High Priest? And if we are
no longer supposed to do the feasts why are we going
to be doing them in the Millenial Kingdom? Also, if we
consider ourselves adopted sons and daughters of
Christ why don't we have to follow the House rules?

Following the Law is not a thing that we do to earn
our salvation! We follow God's Law because we love him
and want to obey him. John 14:15- If you love Me, you
will obey my commandments. Jesus quotes the Law all
the time. Also, John 15: 9-11- Just as the Father has
loved Me, I have also loved you ; abide in my love. If
you keep my commandments, you will abide in My love;
just as I have kept My Father's commands and abide in
His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My
joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.

Knowing and believing Moses and the Prophets is a
must. Luke 16: 27-31: When the rich man asked to have
someone warn his brothers to believe, Jesus told him
that they had Moses and the Prophets and that his
brother should hear them. v. 31- But he said to him,
"If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they
will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the
dead.

John 5:46-47- For if you believed Moses, you would
believe Me, for he wrote about Me. But if you do not
believe his writings, how will you believe My words?

Matthew 5:17-20 tells exactly what Jesus came to do in
reference to the Law. "Do not think that I came to
abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to
abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until
heaven and earth pass away not the smallest letter or
stroke shall pass from the Law until all is
accomplished. Whoever then annuls one of the least of
these commandments, and teaches others to do the same,
shall be least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever
keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in
the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you that unless
your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and
Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven."

I John 2:3-6 explains how we know that we have come to
know Christ. "By this we know that we have come to
know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who
says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His
commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
but whoever keeps His Word, in Him the love of God has
truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in
Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself
to walk in the same manner as He walked.

Judy, The point "It is finished" on the cross was
that Jesus died to do
away with Sin; which is the opposite of doing away
with the Law, because
sin is defined as "lawlessness". I John 3:4,
Everyone who practices sin
also practices lawlessness; and [Rom 4:15; 1 John
5:17] sin is
lawlessness.

What do you consider "the Levitical Law"? If you are
talking about
Talmud, I agree-it is not scripture. God's laws are
scripture and as
such, as you have eloquently stated, will never be
done away with. Izzy

Judy responds:: I agree with the above Izzy - The
Levitical Law has to do
with the Levitical Priesthood and the animal
sacrifices, feasts, and
everything having to do with the earthly temple and
it is explained in
Hebrews 9 and 10. This and the Talmud are no longer
relevant according to
my understanding. Judyt.

I don't believe God's moral law has gone anywhere -
It is the Levitical
law that was nailed to the cross because it has been
completed in Christ.
We no longer need Levitical priests, we have a Great
High Priest who sits
on the right hand of God the Father in the
heavenlies. What point do you
believe I have missed that has to do with the cross?

Hi Izzy & all,
Thank you for asking. I'm not very often stuck for
words but these 613
Commands along with reaction on TT to the
death of Arafat have left me (momentarily)
speechless. To begin with I
can't see any wisdom in resurrecting Levitical Law
which was nailed to
the cross when Jesus cried "It is finished!" In
Galatians Paul tells us
that adding Jewish law to the finished work of
Christ will cause one who
began in the Spirit to "fall from grace" - so how
did we get here??

As for the demise of Arafat .. the wisdom of God
says "Because I have
called, and ye refused. I have stretched out my
hand, and no man
regarded; but ye have set at nought all my counsel,
and would have none
of my reproof; I also will laugh at your calamity; I
will mock when your
fear cometh; when your fear cometh as desolation and
your destruction
cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish
cometh upon you. Then
shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they
shall seek me early,
but they shall not find me; for that they hated
knowledge, and did not
choose the fear of the Lord; they would have none of
my counsel; they
despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of
the fruit of their
own way, and be filled with their own devices..For
the turning away of
the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of
fools shall destroy
them..."

True, it's not God's will that any should perish but
Arafat made his own
bed, and he lived by his own rules. I certainly
don't envy his end but
agree with Izzy that the world is better off without
him. George W. may
not meet the expectations of some but at least he
was not deceived by
that evil little man and refused to invite him to
this country so long as
he was involved with terrorism. What a chaotic
funeral that was .. and
now the search for the billions he has siphoned and
hidden.

The late Pinchas Lapide once said: "The 'Old[er]
Law' remains, the
New[er] Testament does not bring any New Law but
applies the old[er] in
light of the fulfillment of all salvation history.
Even in the Sermon on
the Mount, Yeshua brings no new Law, but shows how
in each situation, the
Old[er] Law is to be fulfilled radically in view of
the Kingdom of God
which is immeasurably close."

jt: The Kingdom of God is here. Jesus introduced it
.. remember? He said
"But if I cast out demons by the finger of God then
the kingdom of God
has come upon you" (Luke 11:20). The Church is
supposed to be doing the
same
works today and is in some quarters...
