I am what I am
Does not mean

I cannot be what He
wants me to be.

Nor does "'Tis the season to be jolly"
allow for the celebration of personal folly.

Combine what He wants me to be
with the shameful plight of "in spite" in my life,
and you have found a magnanimous place
for the permanence of grace.
