Sabbat, c. 8., sect. 3 & 7" is 1200 years removed. I enjoy Maimonides's counterpart far better -- Ramban -- much better (which says nothing about the incredible contributions R.Maimon made, of course).
DAVID: Now please don't misunderstand me to be arguing that Jesus broke the sabbath. I am simply recognizing that this situation is a little sticky. I have even heard some Messianics claim that this phrase that says they plucked grain was added to the text by a copyist and is not to be trusted as Scripture. Now I realize that you are going to ask me, "who," so a quick google gave me the following quote for you: SLADE: NO need. I know many personally. You did mention D.Flusser whom I have a great deal of respect. Also check out P.Lapide as well. He does a great job with a book about the Sermon on the Mount, but he does a lot regarding "Christian editing" as well, of which I disagree. I do not argue that there are not redacted segments written by scribes because we see evidence of editing when comparing texts, but not in the sections suggested by Lapide OR my friends/acquaintances. DAVID: I hope you don't believe in the liberal understanding of Hillel in regards to divorce. Hillel taught that a man could divorce his wife if she spoiled his dinner. :-) Shammai taught the same as Jesus did on marriage and divorce. SLADE: My opinion is that Hillel was probably the fourth greatest Rabbi of the 1st Century CE (aside from Messiah who is FAR above all Rabbis). DAVID: If I am correct, my faith could be worthless? I proved Yeshua was a false Messiah? I don't think so. I don't know if this is a gross misunderstanding of what I wrote or an attempt at assasinating my character. :-) Try reading my previous post again, or let's just kiss and makeup. SLADE: Well, if you want to lock lips, I guess I'll place mine against the screen, but it's not necessary. I was only suggesting that if you determine Messiah broke Torah, broke Shabbat, and/or taught others to do so, then the Jewish people will not accept this Messiah because Moses tells them not to. Continue teaching (not necessarily you, David, but anyone) that Yeshua did not keep Torah or that He set aside Torah, and you steal the Messiah from the Jewish people. UNTIL the fullness of the Gentiles comes about, all of Israel will NOT be saved. That's what I'm all about. ---------- "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man."
