The reason: Paul, even when he was noted as believing in Messiah, was allowed to engage conversation within the Synagogue. This would not be allowed for an apostate. When did the Synagogue becomes off limits to the Ekklesia. It certainly is today. Your point above seems to be a good one. You know that the traditional view point for me is that after 70 A.D. and the death of the Messiah as King idea, things changed rather quickly for the Jewish community and the Christian community.
