acc to availbl Scripture, e.g., Lk 17 recrds abt the Bereans that their intrst in Paul was bec 'they received the word' from him--obviously, they had not recvd it from 'the Jews'...this refers specificly to them accptg Paul and his 'message', some of th results of which the Ap/s reportd upon while at Jeruslm attndg their prayrful council partic on countrg malevolent P/S legalism, Acts 15, which the Council, via the Spirit did well enough, else we wouldn't be here eithr:) ..to'v been a fly on the wall...

also, cp. the txt in ch 17 whr it's v clear that their study/s began makg sense after they, th Bereans, acceptd Paul's preaching..they (also) became endeard to him..and, intrestgly, Lk 17 also recrds, below, that 'the [(malevolent)] Jews' (cp. Acts 23 again) actually travld a long ways outa their way to termnate preachg (of) the word  in Thessalonica...

(which they prob thought they did:)

High water risin' - risin' night and day
All the gold and silver are being stolen away
Big Joe Turner lookin' East and West
From the dark room of his mind
He made it to Kansas City
Twelfth Street and Vine
Nothing standing there
High water everywhere

..Bertha Mason shook it broke it..hung it on a wall
Says, "You're dancin' with whom they tell you to
Or you don't dance at all."
It's tough out there
High water everywhere
