JUDY : Is the above scenario written with the idea that what Cliff calls faith is in actuality 'mental assent only?'

SLADE: Now that's a question, isn't it? And that's the point of the Midrash.

jt: What's this got to do with the Midrash? I'm asking you since you are the one who posted the scenario.

JUDY: (slade): What does the man do?  (Judy) He looks for a doorpoint ie the opening/sin in his life that the enemy used to get a foothold.

SLADE: WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! Think "Blind man... who sinned, he or parents... no one.... for God's glory..."

jt: Jesus didn't say there was no generational sin involved, what he did say was that the problem was not with the man or his parents and that His (Jesus) priority at that moment was to work the works of God.  Remember? Jesus came to do good and to heal ALL who were oppressed by the devil for God was with Him.

JUDY: Mental assent crumbles when tested and there is no glory in 'tempting God' - If Cliff has himself out on a limb it is one of his own making.

SLADE: Exactly my point.

jt: Point well taken but faith in God and in His Word has nothing to do with mental assent.

JUDY: God also knowingly allowed Adam to be tested and he failed ....

SLADE: And the same goes for Samson, Eli, Slade...., Judy.........

jt: Not necessarily, why would you assume this to be so when we have received the power to become sons of God. Jesus never fails.
