Hello, Judy.
You say that God is Spirit. This is true. Is man spirit?

jt: Yes, here are just a few scriptures that relate to this reality:
There is a spirit in man and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding (Job 32:8)
I Daniel was grieved in my spirit (Daniel 7:15)
Perverseness is a breach in the spirit (Proverbs 15:4)
The Lord formeth the spirit of man within him (Zech 12:1)
At death the spirit of man goeth upward (Ecc 3:21)

Man has spirit. We were created as a living nefesh... translate that any way you want. You guys throw these terms [spirit, soul] around without definition and when you try to define them they still make no sense to me. No hope there, I'm afraid.

jt: These terms are defined in scripture Slade and the scriptures themselves separate body, soul, and spirit (see 2 Thess 5:23) so long as what I am saying is founded in scripture then God will give understanding to all who are interested in learning from Him. Spirit and Soul are not one and the same since Hebrews 4:12 tells us that God's Word can divide them.

I THINK the problem arises in something far deeper than a vague, mystical definition: it lies more in the part of speech. You define spirit as a noun, perhaps, or some other derivation of that concept. I define spirit as a verb or some derivation of that concept. Man is spirit like man is... skin and bones. Right? That's what you think, right?

jt: I'm not talking about any "vague, mystical definition" of anything and I don't know why it is important to you to define whether it is a verb or a noun.  As for flesh and bones - I don't believe so Slade. A spirit doesn't have flesh and bones (Luke 24:39)

Slade thinks "we must worship in Spirit and Truth" -- Spirit being HOW we worship (i.e., a command must be obeyed from within -- motivated by love for God & Man -- otherwise it;'s not obeyed). Let me reiterate to you. I CANNOT separate flesh and spirit. It makes NO SENSE to me.

jt: Then how do you relate to God who is Spirit?

Making humanity in His image as nothing to do with "man being spirit." It's man HAVING Spirit (see two paragraphs above). If I can't get you to understand this, there's no point in continuing because we are speaking so differently, it's becoming an exercise in futility. -- slade

jt: Is God a "living soul" then?  Was he a body made from the dust of the ground or a living soul when A&E were created in His Image?

Essence "Spirit, Soul, Body (Triune Being)" has nothing to do with he "Us" in the Creation narrative. Essence has nothing to do with God being "One."

jt: Of course it does Slade. God is Spirit and Man is spirit; being made in His image is what

differentiates mankind from the animals.

The Hebrew text (as a rule) deals strictly with action,i.e., verb forms as opposed to static "To Be" forms. For instance, Echad (One) in Deuteronomy 6:4 is a VERB. -- slade

jt: How IYO would the above change the face that God is Spirit and so is Man?
