Why do you continue to 'breathe life' into it?

I'm just trying to put the matter to bed also. Here's the problem.

While Christians may disagree upon things philosophical and theological in many ways, they cannot continue in sin. Erroneous thinking and wrongful behavior are two different things. We have a problem here because John Smithson says that Izzy and Judy are dishonest and deceitful. That means that they should not be included into fellowship with the community of Christ. Paul instructs us not to fellowship with those professing believers who continue to sin (2 Thess. 3:14, 1 Cor. 5). If John is right, then these are serious allegations that demand a response upon me. On the other hand, if John is bearing false witness against his sisters in Christ, then he should be shunned, that he might repent of his wickedness. The third option is for everyone involved to declare the whole dialogue a huge misunderstanding.

If you and John can both declare the matter a misunderstanding, then I am done with it. If, on the other hand, John persists in his belief that Izzy and Judy are dishonest, then based upon the facts presented to him by both Izzy and myself, I will henceforth consider John someone who should not be included in the fellowship of the community of Christ, until such time as he repents of bearing false witness against those in Christ. Sin is a very serious matter.

David Miller.
