The throne of Solomon was not established forever because this was conditional upon Solomon being obedient. He was not obedient, therefore it was given to the descendants of Nathan (see the genealogy of Mary in the Gospels).

For clarification purposes: The throne of David IS established forever and this is an unconditional fact, and Messiah, the son of David, rules all who submit to His authority.

Subject: [TruthTalk] Is comparing passages from different books valid?

jt: It has to be because the only other son of David who was given a throne was Solomon and his throne certainly wasn't established forever - in fact he knew he had lost the kingdom before his death.  It has to be referring to Christ, the son who learned obedience by the things he suffered by the hands of men.
