I have never bothered to learn what orthodox might mean to various people, ignorant hillbilly that I am.  God, I suppose, is the Father of those who have been adopted into His family, though others might contend that He is Father of all.  Brotherhood, likewise, can be used to encompass all,  or just those in the family.
 No need for the shield. 
We are all pussy cats.
