That I can understand.  However it seems the old mainline denom’s are going downhill scripturally.  I think there is room for allowing a new move of the Holy Spirit to minister where/how He will.  He sure won’t work in the old mainline denom’s where abortion, homosexuality, and pop theology is held up as representing Him.  Another point: there is a difference between “going to the world to see what works there” and having a culturally relevant message and method of delivering it.  I think that’s an element sorely lacking in the old institutions which are clouded over with cobwebs.  The last time I attended the kind of church I raised my sons in I nearly was bored to tears with the rote prayers, hymn # such and such, and the stiff ritualistic checking off of items on the bulletin/itinerary.  I’d much rather worship alone under a tree in my back yard, or attend a living exciting, moving fellowship, whether at a non-denominational gathering or a home church.  For those who still dig the oldies, diff’rent strokes for diff’rent folks.  When my spirit got dry and thirsty I moved on.  I don’t think we need to pretend that “our way” is the only way.  We have a big God.  If you are in a church that helps you grow and you are helping others to grow, go with it.  But don’t labor under the illusion that one particular method of “church” is the only format where the Holy Spirit is pleased to change hearts and lives.  Izzy

The point is we do not go to the world to see what works there, and then bring it in to the church.

Kevin, thanks for the interesting video.  It seems to indicate that cool music is not scriptural.  Is that the point? It also seems that if the point of the video is that God will grow His true church.  I have heard that all the mainline denominations are dying out, while the non-denominational churches are growing.  I suspect that is because the mainlines have gone liberal (gay preachers, etc.), and the new non-denoms are now where you can find the pure undefiled Word preached.  The world is dynamic, and the gospel is new every morningseems that the Holy Spirit is leaving the old stale dead institutions and moving where He is allowed.  What do you think?
