It seems to me that the real test of human empathy is what we actually DO for those less fortunate than us.  (vs the talk we talk.)  God will be the judge of that, and not one of us on TT. Izzy

This is your problem  =   "it seems to me that  ......."
Empathy has much more to do with somehow knowing of the feelings of despair, hopelessness and discouragement in the lives of some;  "what we actually do"  is something called BENEVOLENCE.

So my “problem” is that I have an opinion?  Am I being belittled for expressing an opinion? (Is that empathetic?) Do you think you are the only one here who can “somehow know” about such feelings?  Is “feeling your pain” enough?  Isn’t doing something about it, in itself, the best indication of one’s empathy? Will we be rewarded in heaven for the wonderful feelings we had towards others, or for the good we did to them? Iz

james 2:15If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? (NASB)
