Subject: [TruthTalk] Book of Mormon one of top ten
Blaine: Anyone want to buy a book? The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ (Official Edition) by Joseph Smith (Translator) Edition: Paperback Price: $4.99 The book speaks for itself., August 2, 2003 There have been over 440,000 copies sold through amazon.com. The Book of Mormon was recently ranked among the top ten most influential books in the history of America by Book Magazine. It is a volume of holy scripture that goes hand in hand with the Bible.. It testifies of Christ- that He lives and loves us. It is an account written by ancient prophets (just as the Bible is) yet this record is about God's dealings with people who once lived in the Americas. Why not read the book yourself to discover what is has to offer? Blaine, there have been a lot more Bibles sold than the BoM, and it is ALREADY PROVEN to be historically accurate. Why not read that instead? Blaine: The Bible I read most is the KJV. I like the "thees" and the "thous." They make it more powerful and beautiful. I believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. There is NO PROOF of the BoM being written by "ancient prophets"--that is fantasy. You belief that on faith ONLY. Blaine: You are right, I do believe on faith, but there is plenty of emergent evidence to support the Book of Mormon. But if you choose not to believe it in the first place, you will never learn what it is. I'm sure that there have been plenty of other "most influential" books that have not been true OR of any benefit in the eyes of God. You seem like much too nice of a guy to spend your life believing in something so utterly unsubstantiated and so obviously fictitious. I know it's painful to have a paradigm shift in midlife, especially if youve been raised in a certain mindset since childhood--but it's time, my dear. Blaine: Mindset is where it is all at, and thanks for the compliment! But as I said, one must want to believe in the first place, and that is where the mindset comes in. There are many reasons, I suppose, why one may choose not to believe--desire to believe is the "grain of mustard seed" that enables one to have faith that will move mountains of doubt. You need to cultivate this desire, and let it grow. Reading Spiderman comics, and believing in them, doesnt make them true. I know you are sincere, and my heart aches for you. Izzy Blaine: I love Spirderman DVDs, I don't recall reading many comic books. I especially like Spiderman's girlfriend, who in real life is Kirsten Dunst--she is a living dream. See, I do know reality from fiction!! (:>) ---------- "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man."
