I have not been able to keep up with all the posts, but because I do not know when I will be able to catch up, let me address this one comment at this time. Slade was not a moderator in name only. He was given power and authority over the list, including administrative abilities. I setup an account for him which gave him web access to controlling this list in any manner he saw fit. I also told him that he could run the list however he saw fit. He could subscribe whoever he wanted and he could unsubscribe whoever he wanted. He even had power to remove me from the list if he so chose, and he had power to prevent me and others from signing up to the list, if he so chose. In fact, he could have completely removed the entire list if he wanted to. He had full and complete control. When Bill left the list, he admonished me privately that I had a responsibility to do something about what had been happening on the list. I reasoned that Slade might benefit by having some help, so I decided that I would be willing to sacrifice more of my time to help him moderate. I called him up and explained our past rule concerning the no ad hominem arguments that has always been a rule on TruthTalk. I also told him that in the past, we had handled this by sending an email with *REPRIMAND* in the subject line and then did not allow public discussion on said reprimand. This worked well in the past, and he welcomed the suggestion of adding me as a co-moderator with him and enforcing the rule as an answer to what he had already been contemplating. So Slade and I agreed to take this difficult course. I knew there would be cry babies about it. I have five children you know. Lots of experience with pastoring too. So anyway, we agreed to take that course. Apparently he was not so successful communicating with his wife. She was objecting from day one. And we all know what ended up happening. He left without a word to anyone. Some of you who see nothing wrong with him leaving a position of responsibility without communicating are telling on yourselves. I opened up my entire email system to him. He made no provisions for anyone to take over his responsibilities. He did not even let me know he was leaving or when he would be gone. That is not right. Perry, on the other hand, handled it in an entirely righteous way. When he felt he could not continue, he informed me and gave me a month to find someone else. When I was unable to get someone in a month, he was gracious enough to give me some more time. When I did find someone else, he offered to assist in some of the administrative duties. To this day, Perry still has an account and access to my email system. Why? Because he is a responsible man. He communicates. Now I'm not going to spend a lot of time discussing these issues on the list. It is not something I think the list is interested in discussing. Nevertheless, for the sake of disclosure, I want everyone to know that Slade had all the power of a moderator that he could possibly have. It was not a position in name only. He was granted power and authority that other list members do not have. Peace be with you.
