Gary, after having the opportunity to verbalize my feelings, I would like to
apologize for my first sentence below. Even though you hurt my feelings I
hope you know I have no desire to hurt yours (or the Mormons for that
matter). I was really looking forward to seeing you grow as our Moderator.
I hope you will accept my fig leaf and renew your efforts with good
intentions towards those you dislike as well as those you don't. I will
stay if you will do us that favor. Sincerely, Izzy

Can't take it any more. Ha Ha

Please unsubscribe me until such time as Gary is no longer Moderator. Thank
you.
I awake this morning, contemplating whether Gary's incompetence as Moderator
is simply due to possible chemically-induced brain damage or to a more
sinister malicious intent. Then I sit down at my computer and find in my
personal inbox the message above. Question answered.
Yesterday, in an attempt to avoid rebelling against the authority imparted to Gary (not GEORGE, Lance), I decided to simply step down quietly. Since then it seems that Gary has backstepped enough to invite my comments, so I will avail myself of the opportunity.
When Gary requested the Moderator position I was cautiously optimistic that
he would surprise and dazzle us all with a more coherent and egalitarian
persona. I was hopeful that he would use his new position of power to
mediate an open and safe arena for the free exchange of ideas by using wise
restraint in gently reprimanding those who have overstepped the boundaries
of civility. Instead he quickly instituted an environment of intimidation
for those whose opinions he loathes. (The same mistake made less maliciously
by Slade, I am sad to say.) Gary, while trying to pass himself as
"pastoral", gave himself away by his rush to judgment against me, and his
subsequent glee in forcing me out of TruthTalk. He has shown himself to
believe his new position is that of Chief of Censorship and Thought Police.
In response to a statement I have made in the past, that street preachers
should beware of ignoring Jesus' caution against preaching to hardened
unbelievers for the sake of their own safety, Gary has shown himself to be
like the leftist judge in the "Philly 5" trial-mistaking the Word of the
Lord for "hate speech". I would have welcomed an inquiry to clarify my
position from anyone with such a misunderstanding. Instead Gary chose to
immediately condemn me as "irresponsible" and "thoughtless", as well as
"divorced" from "intense thinking", "authorship qualities required to post
it", and Jesus' "literary expertise in his carefully worded generic manner."
Then Gary decreed my punishment for "very nasty feelings/responses" (His own
I assume):
1. revise my words 2. repost my revision "minus the backhanded ad hominem reference" 3. apologize to all affected parties 4. apologize to the Lord himself 5. apologize to the public 6. apologize to TruthTalk 7. apologize to the mormons 8. apologize to the street preachers "on whom the posted language slops" 9. Do all of the above by the deadline of 6pm MST, 2/4/05 10. Publicly refrain from deploying any NT language as a scathing false public embarrassment of other TT'ers
He then invites a public vote as to whether or not I actually committed an ad hominem attack, all the while reminding everyone that the outcome will definitely not relieve me of my punishment as written above. Then Gary's devotees exhibited appropriate shock and outrage at my post.
Gary, your eagerness to publicly humiliate and embarrass me on Truthtalk has
only served to expose your motive as expressed by JD Smithson: "Actually, I
call it "The Fall of the Final Four." The Inquistion has begun. I find
this environment impossible for the uninhibited, free exchange of ideas. I
invite you to either step down as Moderator or to make the apologies that
you have outlined above. Otherwise my resignation stands, and you can live
in a little box of men who all parrot the same dead language to each other.
Sincerely, Izzy
