BLAINE: I am glad we fiinally got this straight, that JS only joined a class not the Methodist Church itself!! You guys keep trying to make a mountain out of a molehill on this point. Thanks, Kevin, for saying it like it was.

KD Your welcome. Again the problem stems from the date being undeniably 1828! The First vision is dated 1820. I am sure you are aware of the many different versions and the "revival" or religious excitement is dated 1820 The historical & Church records show it occured in 1824 again AFTER the date of the first supposed Vision. Since Joe first wrote of the First Vison in 1832. The facts say one thing Joe says another who is telling the truth?

The date problems the Revised stories & the witness of other Mormons ( Times & Seasons Oliver 1834 continues the confused stories) show that the First Vision is a fabrication. If a crime investigator saw so many conflicting "Facts" he would know that there is lying and cover up going on. The witness testimony is all over the place. The Historical facts Dates, church records,  news accounts, all agree that Joe created the story after the fact. Joes story changes about 6 times.

JS Admits in his life story that he favored the Methodist Church until he received the First Vision, wherein he was told to join "none" of the current churches. In reading up on the doctrines of that church, I see that there are many doctrines that are basically the same as LDS doctrines. I see nothing wrong in him showing a continuing interest in this church, as a member of a class only! In fact, I believe if I were not a Mormon, I would be a Methodist. . . (:

KD Why did joe join a class at a Church God said was altogether wrong their creeds and a abomination? You say he joined the class UNTIL he recieved the First Vision this is demonstratably false. He joined until he was kicked out for Occult activities in 1828 The first Vision is written down 4 years later. Maybe Joe got confused with the dates? There is NO Record of the FIRST VISION until 1832 NONE - NADA When did it occur, if at all? The FAITH PROMOTING new improved version of the First Vision appeared first in 1842 10 years later. Each succeeding REVISION of The story gets better & better like a tale tale grows.

It however appears quite certain that the prophet himself never made any serious pretensions to religion until his late pretended revelation [the discovery of the Book of Mormon] (The brackets are in the quote. The Book of Mormon publication process started in 1827; see Appendix 2 for the dates associated with the Book of Mormon.). (Palmyra Reflector, February 1, 1831)

...It is well know that Joe Smith never pretended to any communion with angels, until a long period after the pretended finding of his book... (Palmyra Reflector, article Number V, February 28, 1831; this article and the one above were reported in: A New Witness For Christ in America, by Francis W. Kirkham, Zion Printing and Publishing Co., Independence, 1942, 281-295 and No Man Knows My History, by Fawn M. Brodie, Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1974, pages 22-23, 429-431)

There were also many Vision claims of others that Preceded Joe's. Good stories from which to take parts & build his own version.
