But except they be born again how can the unregenerate see, what you are saying?

I consider intolerance to be an attribute of cult behavior. Gary gave a
24-hour ultimatum to Izzy regarding a difference in theology between them in
regards to the disciples of Mormonism. This appears to me to be tyrannical
and intolerant authoritarian behavior. It might be understandable if she
was being reproved for sin, but being reproved for a difference in Biblical
interpreation is another matter. I understand his purpose is to bring her
into his way of thinking, but this list does not exist for the purpose of
making converts or making everyone think exactly the same on every issue.
There are many religious groups that practice this kind of sectarian
behavior. We do not. The list is open for everyone, and it is not
appropriate to shun someone like Izzy over her theological belief concerning
Mormons. TruthTalk is a discussion list, not some religious sect or cult.
We need to practice more tolerance while at the same time passionately
challenge one another in what we believe.
I have changed the subject line in case you or others are interested in
discussing what makes a group or organization a cult, and perhaps also to
discuss sectarianism. I suspect some TruthTalk members consider the Mormon
sects to be cults whereas other TruthTalk members do not. It might be
interesting to hear each other articulate what defines a cult in their way
of thinking.
Peace be with you.
David Miller.
