Jn3 16"For God so (W)loved the world, that He (X)gave His (Y)only begotten Son, that whoever (Z)believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
17"For God (AA)did not send the Son into the world (AB)to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
18"(AC)He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of (AD)the only begotten Son of God.
19"This is the judgment, that (AE)the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for (AF)their deeds were evil.
20"(AG)For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

What basis do you have for drawing such a conclusion?

Does Jesus love you, Izzy? I mean, I think he does, but I'm just asking you.

No—just bringing it down to their level, since children have not rejected Jesus and they would all go to be with Him if they died at that moment—unlike many of us. Izzy

Do you think the church is lying to those little kids?

No.   I didn’t know Jesus as Lord and Savior when I was 5 years old.  (Neither did I get to attend kindergarten.)  I am more excited by Jesus’ words in scripture.  Izzy

John 8:12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."

The question wasn't to Barth.

If that’s all you can cling to on your deathbed….well, why go to seminary?  It takes a bit more understanding to realize that not Everyone goes to heaven regardless of John 3:16.  (Remember the “I never knew you” part?)  I personally can’t speak for Barth; I never knew him.  Izzy

Pretty cool huh? Learn it in Sunday School and never ever exhaust it, no matter what your level of genius.

What do you think, Izzy, does it still excite you like it did him?

How very profound.  Exactly what little Sunday schoolers learn in kindergarten.  Izzy

"Jesus loves me; this I know; for the Bible tells me so." -- Karl Barth, toward the end of his life, when asked about the most profound theological truth he had ever learned.

Please provide some statements from Barfh's books or whatever showing he was a saved man & believer.

"In the course of a single decade, Albert Einstein discovered special and then general relativity, and in so doing overturned the conceptions of space and time that our species had held for thousands of years. Even so, many of us, at least intuitively, still adhere to those disproved conceptions. We imagine space as an inert stage on which the events of the cosmos take place. We imagine time being recorded on a universal clock, ticking away in a identical manner here, and on Mars, and in the Andromeda galaxy and everywhere else, regardless of differing environments and physical contexts. For most of us, the unchanging eternality of space and time is among the most basic features of existence. But to hold such beliefs is to hold to a pre-Einsteinian vision that isnot only theoretically untenable but, as attested to by numerous experiments, demonstrably wrong."  (The meaning of Relativity-Brian Greene, Princeton UP, 2005)

"We certainly should not forget Barth's reminder that he did not aim to make us students of Barth but students of Holy Scripture. Barth took the lead on this point. His is a passion  in zeal for God's glory."

"Why do human beings learn so much, so soon, about technology, and so little, so late, about loving one another." Henri Nouwen

You need not know anything of or about either of these men (Einstein/Barth) to participate in that which has been accomplished in the Man Jesus.HOWEVER, that which was spoken by David Miller reflects not the 'scandal of the cross' but, 'the scandal of the evangelical mind'
