Terry and DaveH, hope you don't mind if I add a thought or two about David and his feelings because
I see this brought up often by ppl who mention the imprecatory Psalms etc.  We know that all scripture
is given by inspiration of God and that God Himself calls David a man after his own heart.

I submit that when David spoke about the "wicked" it was always in general terms and
never a personal vendetta toward any one person and in this he is, in fact, agreeing with what God says
about the wicked in his statutes and commandments.

Job's comforters were doing the same in their discourses but their mistake and what made God angry
with them is that they judged Job personally and accused him adding to his affliction when God was
allowing him to be tested by the adversary.

In contrast the ppl DaveH speaks of sound angry and vengeful for personal reasons so they would not
represent either God's zeal or the fruit of a Christian life..   judyt

No, I don't think so, but I could very well be wrong.
DAVEH:  Perhaps I'm a bit more sensitive to it than you might be.

No, I didn't mean that.  I just don't think that you should assume that they are Christians just because they talk about hope for someone burning in hell.
DAVEH:  I allowed in a previous post that some may speak such out of anger, even if they aren't Christian.  However, there have been a lot of folks who have made such statements who proclaim being Christian.  I posted the URL to one such yesterday.
I would agree with you that there have been Christians who have hoped for their enemies to burn in hell.
DAVEH:   So I'm not sure why any TTers would take exception when I suggest that there are Christians who are eager for people to be consigned to the burning torture of hell.  What have I said that is in error?   I really don't think it is a rare occurrence to hear professed Christians say such things.  And, I'd be very surprised if you do think it is rare.

Peace be with you.
David Miller.
