He was consistent in his dogma that he only acted to save the unborn 
children that day.  His rationale was that if you saw a man about to kill 
your children, would you sit by idle or would you kill that man to save your 
children?

Not in my opinion.  He was excommunicated from his church (Presbyterian) 
prior to his killing those two people.  Although Paul Hill would deny it, I 
think there was hatred in his heart that motivated him, but he rationalized 
it as a necessary action to save the unborn children.
