Both Kings and Chronicles refer to a history book, "the annals of the kings of Israel" or the "book of the kings of Israel and Judah".

But did they find the OT verse that Matthew was referring to in Matthew 2:23 when he wrote: "and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene."

Matthew does not tell us that this information was recorded in the old testament.  He simply says, "It was spoken by the prophets."   Much of Jewish history was oral.
Terry

And recorded in the Talmud.  Izzy

Not necessarily so. Terry is right. It might be oral or it might even be lost. Both Kings and Chronicles refer to a history book, "the annals of the kings of Israel" or the "book of the kings of Israel and Judah". They keep saying if you want to know more, read that. But we don't have that book anymore so how can we! The things that get lost because books were so darn fragile and expensive!

By the way, the Torah itself was lost. 2 points for the one who knows when it was rediscovered. Bonus points for anyone who can pinpoint when the Ark of the Covenant was last seen in the bible. Automatic pass for the one who knows what happened to it and where is it now.

Luv, Caroline.
