Perry, I forgot to ask you in my last post to you. Have you read some of the early gnostic writings? If you have not, please do so. They were FAR worse than the Mormons in terms of adding teachings from revelation. I don't think the Silence of Scripture hermeneutic is necessary to stop this kind of thing. Simply use the Scriptures to expose the folly of it all. Deal with such the way the apostles did, which was to minister the Holy Spirit and more revelation to people, not instruct them that they needed to hear only the written Word. I cannot even imagine the apostles telling people to shut off the voice of the Spirit and read the Scriptures only. Remember that Jesus never promised to leave us the Holy Scriptures to comfort us and guide us into all truth. No, Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit to do this work. Think about that.
