1 Peter 3:3
KJV: Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of
plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of
apparel;
NASB: Your
adornment must not be merely external--braiding the hair, and wearing gold
jewelry, or putting on dresses;
NIV: Your
beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the
wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes.
It seems to me that in this verse, the NIV
translators have the best English rendition of what Peter meant.
