How did I misinterpret God's actions in Genesis? Why do you
think God never addressed the serpent?

I don't know, did you? I don't feel knowing Christ protects me from the
need to be corrected, but I believe in knowing Truth because of my
relationship with Him. There are some things you will never persuade me to
change on (e.g. the divinity of Christ), but I am willing to entertain new
interpretations of scripture and weigh them for merit. I welcome your
correction. (The "your" in this last sentence is addressed to all of TT,
not only Lance.)
The Genesis issue we are talking about is theology. It is philosophical
and speculative. An equal question would be "Who are the Nefalim in Gen. 6?"
But I believe there are issues in Christianity that we can and must answer
correctly. They are less philosophical and more action-oriented. For instance,
praying to Mary, or speaking in tongues. These are realities we must answer
and then respond to. These are questions that a relationship with Christ
should lead you to a better understanding of the Truth..
But I still don't feel I have misinterpreted that passage in Genesis. Why
do you suggest that I have, Lance?
Blessings

What about God's actions in Genesis when he punished Adam and Eve for
partaking of the fruit? First he addressed Adam, who pointed to Eve, then
he asked Eve, who pointed to the serpent. But God never
asked the serpent for his explanation. He simply commensed with
the cursing. I always found that fact interesting, and I think
it applies here.
