Lance,Furthermore, I believe it is possible for two Christians to have views of Biblical Jesus that differ. In fact, this is often the case. These differences may be based on thier own perspectives, based on what the spirit has revealed to them regarding the nature of Christ, but both views must fall within the description of Jesus and God revelaed in Scripture. I can even allow for a small degree of error on the parts of one or the other. Innocent error that comes perhaps from misinterpretation or lack of understanding, which the individual is willing to correct when shown the truth, by another, scripturally, or spiritually. There is a big difference between having a wrong idea about Jesus and having the wrong jesus.
But, take the mormon god as a counter example...this counterfeit god exhibits many of the characteristics of the god of the bible. However, I KNOW they are not the same because the mormon god was once a man who was exalted to godhood...there were many before him, and will be many after him. The God of the bible is one and only God, and there were none before Him, and there will be none after Him. This ALONE is enough to raise a red flag. We need go NO furhter to understand thaqt they are two separate g/Gods, one false and one Real.
By extension, if this mormon god had a son, the mormon jesus, he cannot be the Jesus of the Bible, even though he shares some of the characteristics of the Jesus of the Bible, simply because the Jesus of the Bible is the son of the God of the Bible, not the counterfeit son of a counterfeit mormon god.
If you and I agree that we both know David Miller from Hollywood, we might agree on many of the same things about him, that is, until we discovered that I was talking about a David Miller I know that lives in Hollywood, California. Same David Miller? What if I went further, and only mentioned those characteristics that I KNOW the two David Millers share. I could keep you thinking they were the same for a long time...especially if I redefined some words to mean something different than you think they mean. For example, we might agree that David Miller drives a Ford SUV. However, to you a Ford SUV might be an Escape, Explorer or Expedition...but I may define SUV to include old Ford station wagons, which the California DavidM drives!. There! We agree they both drive a Ford SUV!
I am sure you get the point. Mormons can talk to you all day about their god and their jesus, and they will appear the same...until you get down to the details...was always a god? How did he become a god? Where is he from?

It is the Bible. The mormon jesus does not match the jesus of the Bible, nor does the mormon god match the God of the Bible. If you listen only to what the missionaries, DaveH, and Blaine tell you you will think they are they same, but when you look at what their non-prophets have written, and what they actually believe, (the part people typically do not learn about until they are deep into the mormon religion) they are not the same.PerryFrom: "Lance Muir" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [email protected] To: <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [TruthTalk] Perry vs DaveH Date: Wed, 1 Jun 2005 05:45:32 -0400 CPL:Jus how nuanced would you make this out to be vis a vis 'the rightJesus'? Would you acknowledge that David Miller's "Jesus' was not the Jesusof Bill Taylor? IMO this is so. Should you doubt this I could call BT 'up from the dead' to so demonstrate my point.
