Dan, a drummer who was asked to play at a gig in a
prison, was approached someone who simply said 'thanks for not forgetting us.'
This went like an arrow to his heart. He now continues to 'do' prison
visitation. It has changed both his life and, his theology.
This same young man is currently teaching the book
of Romans to 10-12 youngish ex-drug dealers in a high crime area. When he
offered them a night off to do something else, they said 'what about the Word,
Dan?'. They bring notepads and, ask challenging questions. A sample question:
'why do so many of the people in our building who go to ...church have children
with different women in that same church?'
Clarence was in to buy something for his pregnant
daughter (pregnant by her boyfriend). He had just 'graduated' from a four month
program in Teen Ranch (he is 46 - one year over the proposed limit of 45). He
had story after story of God's supernatural intervention in both bringing him up
short while using, getting him into the program, praying with others (he'd been
a believer for the last 20 years) while there to receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit, angelic appearances and even the voice of God intervening over demons on
his behalf.
Both were an encouragement to
all.
