Lance all we ever hear from those of you on the left is constant belittling, ridicule, and scathing criticisms of America and our President and just about everything else, including us personally.  Please note that we do not bother to do the same regarding Canada, et al. although we certainly could.  So in the future please post as many criticisms of Canada as you do of America and we might believe that you don’t hate America.  iz

Amen! Unless someone wishes to announce 'hatred for America', I'm unaware of anyone on TT who does.

I do believe that several factors may be in play in so thinking. Here are but two:

1. You are not an American so, you have no right to criticize.

2. Criticism, of any sort, is unwelcome.

Izzy, it is not irrelevant, and none of us hates America. I think giving by individuals and private groups of individuals is an important consideration in all of this. The institutionalization of giving is not a good thing insofar as it obliterates giving by individuals or removes the responsibility of individuals. There should be both, of course--corporate, public, national giving and giving by private individuals and groups.

But that is irrelevant to those who hate America, Kevin.  So don’t confuse them with the facts. iz

The US is the largest overall donor with its $16.3bn in 2003. But this works out as 0.15% of its GNI - the lowest of any G8 member and less than half the 0.35% EU average. Britain stands at 0.34% and Norway is the highest, with 0.92%.

Which leaves out the fact that individual giviving adds another 22bn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Individual donors are almost non existant in these other Socialist states because of the OPPRESIVE tax burdens approaching 50%

Note the paragraph near the bottom of the article for a closer look at the truth Kevin:

The US is far behind any of the G8 members.  You give a lot of money but you give so little relative to what you have.  Most developed countries give far more of their worth than the US.
