Judy, I think this is a great definition for what I mean (and perhaps others) by the word "interpreting:"
... searching the scriptures in faith trusting the Holy Spirit to shed light. Rather than use Strong's, I use Young's. Rather than Dake or OC, I use any exhaustive expository commentary (Dake is such, by the way) and BT.
Just as you compare all that you read from others with the biblical message, so do I. The process is the same for each of us

Subject: Re: [TruthTalk] Interpreting verses receiving scrpture
Hi JD:
Receiving the Word with meekness is searching the scriptures in faith trusting the Holy Spirit to shed light
Interpreting is trying to fit it into some construct like a jig-saw puzzle which never works because there are always
pieces that don't fit so it is messy - hence metaphor, figurative, mystery etc.. judyt

I don't "interpret" Bill, so this is probably the main difference between us. I don't believe God's Word needs to be"interpreted" - rather it needs to be "received" with meekness. judytJudy -- how do you define "interpreting." I mean, in a practical sense, what is interpreting and what is "receiving" the "word?"JD
