The death penalty is not a prescribed standard of justice to be practiced by secular governments !!
You wording below would make it a transgression of the will of God to NOT have a death penalty.
John Couey is not the issue. Innocent men going to their death is the issue. Couey will get his just rewards -- it just should not be at the expense of innocent lives.

I don't think we should lessen the Scriptural standard of justice because the justice system has made mistakes. The solution is to fix the problems with the justice system, not lower God's standard of eye for an eye and tooth for tooth, life for life, etc. Some crimes are real clear cut. Everybody saw the murder. The murderer admits he hated the guy and killed him. Take Ted Bundy as an example. Sure, he fought it initially, but we learned the truth. He was guilty. No doubt. So you want no death penalty for guys like him? What about Jessica Lunsford here in Citrus County, Florida where I live. This guy John Couey raped, molested, and buried this little girl alive. Give the guy life because of some mistakes made in Illinois? What kind of justice is that? Try telling that to her father Mark Lunsford. Peace be with you.
