Governments (in general) are appointed. There is nothing in this text that DEMANDS
a death penalty. John wrote: > You wording below would make it a transgression > of the will of God to NOT have a death penalty. That's right, John. Governments are meant to reflect God's will concerning justice. Secular governments keep order in a secular world. They are no more
the servants of God than Hitler or Saddam were henchmen for Jesus. What Hitler did
to the Jews, what Stalin did on a far grander scale are not deeds ordained by Godin spite of the the fact that that German government is ordained. John wrote: > John Couey is not the issue. Innocent men going > to their death is the issue. Couey will get his just > rewards -- it just should not be at the expense > of innocent lives. The point is that there already has been the expense of an innocent life. How come you seem to care more about the life of the murderer than the life of the little girl who has been killed by him?
My concern is for the innocent men on death row, David. Say it with me now,
David, I N N O C E N T M E N O N D E A T H R O W.
How many more little girls must die at his hand before you are willing to have the backbone to declare him a murderer worthy of death? We cannot be so fearful of making mistakes that we abrogate justice.
What ??? !!! A truly asinine statement. You speak of justice while executing fully innocent men. Mistakes? I am gutless because I care about killing men who
have been falsely accused and convicted -- mostly because they are black.
If there is no doubt about a murderer being a murderer, he should be put to
death. I would have no problem with you giving a lesser sentence to someone
where the facts are circumstantial or there remains some level of doubt even
though the jury was convinced enough to convict him. I think life in prison
is a worse punishment than being put to death, so perhaps that should be
considered as well, being merciful to the innocent considered guilty?
Anyway, not having a death penalty at all is dangerous for society and
improperly reflects the will of God. Wrong on both counts. Lock 'em up and throw away the key. Society is benefited by
that decision, not harmed. And God does not care if we use the sword or not.
God tried not having a death penalty at one time. It did not work. Society self destructed and God had to repent and destroy the world that then was with a flood. God tells us his standard of justice very clearly. Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. Who is John Smithson or anybody else to disagree with this edict of God? Let the whole world embrace it and say, Amen. Amen ????!!!! It revival time, folks !!

I'm going to have a beer.
