Just to give the list a heads up about the effect of this storm on this list:
The computers which serve this list are located in Mississippi. We should expect the list to be out of commission for awhile when this storm hits. Therefore, if you send an email out to the list tomorrow and never see it show up, that is because our mail servers are down. Your mail server may keep trying to send it for up to five days, or it may bounce it back to you. It all depends on how your mail server is setup to handle situations like this one. I have family in Mississippi. They are going to ride out the storm. My mother lives there and has three homes there. My identical twin brother Mark and his family (3 sons) live in the same town (Gautier, MS, which is between Biloxi and Pascagoula on the coast). My brother's house on the water was destroyed by a hurricane a few years ago, but he rebuilt an entirely new house on the same property. He is on the water, but the new house is built where the bottom floor is designed to be floodable, with two stories above that one. Keep them in prayer. This storm took four lives when it went across Florida south of us last week. This was when it was a much smaller storm. Now it is a monster of a storm. Hurricane force winds extend out more than 200 miles across (more than 100 miles each direction from the center of the storm). New Orleans is below sea level. If the storm surge causes the water to go over the levy's there, we can expect major damage from the flooding. I don't think New Orleans has ever taken a direct hit from a storm of this size. In the area, New Orleans is known as "sin city." Outside the area, it is known as the "Big Easy." :-) We have preached and warned New Orleans about this storm many years back at Mardi Gras.
