Wow!  Big difference in the two versions.  NKJV makes sense.  The NIV changes the whole meaning.  In the NKJV, I see David concieved by parents who were sinners.  In the NIV, the infant is made to be the sinner.  No wonder some people do not trust the NIV.  Thanks for making that obvious.

Romans 5.12 is the one I had in mind:

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. (KJV)

I see this Romans verse pointing out that because the first man sinned, we all inherited his nature.  It is natural for the natural man to sin.  This nature can even be seen in the selfish nature of babies who cry for attention, food or comfort, though their sin is not imputed to them.
