Lance,
While the central issue may be WHO IS JESUS, the problem lies in the fact
that the mormon jesus has many characteristics that distinguish him from the
biblical Jesus. Same for the mormon god and the biblical God. The mormons
claim they are the same, but I (and just about any other Christian who has
done the groundwork to examine the differences) do not believe they are the
same.
These differences boil down to their acceptance of "additional revelation"
from their prophet that assigns characteristics to the mormon jesus that are
not characteristic of the biblical Jesus.
Now, due to external inconsistency in the mormon works, internal
inconsistency in the mormon works, the total lack of archaeological evidence
fot the Bom, the occultic nature of their temple ritual, nconsitistencies
and changes that have been made in the Bom, the false prophecies of thier
prophet, the self-serving nature of the polygamy edict, and how all of this
together totally goes against the Biblical model, I cannot accept the
extra-biblical mormon works as scripture, or anything more than a tragic
deception.
My rantings with Dave, I feel, are not directly with Dave himself, but are a
direct confrontation with Satan, not in Dave, not of Dave, but speaking
through Dave via his prophet. When I hear him espouse mormon philosophy on
this forum that contradicts Christianity, I am revolted, and must respond.
Dave is not a bad guy...he is just a "company man". He is a statistic in the
spiritual tragedy called mormonism.

attentive to my engagement with the Mormons on TT. The periphoral issues
are, IMO, not worth the attention being paid them. I believe the central
issue to be: WHO IS JESUS? I've attempted to speak to it on several
occasions. Should one theologically literate Mormon believer decide to do
so (address that issue) I believe that the matter could be put to rest once
and for all.
