Better to put the words in the mouths of the ones who spoke them rather than make them the "conclusion of the
Apostle John" which is hardly the "obvious" truth of the text as you claim.  The first verse of the gospel of John reads
in the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with God and the WORD was God.... so yes!  God the Word
took the form of a man in order to destroy the works of the evil one in the lives of the ignorant.  judyt

Here is what you offer as an explanation:  It was the Jews who were angry at  Jesus because he claimed to be the Son of God which in their eyes (being spiritually ignorant) made him equal to God.
You have offered your interpretation of this passage in order to avoid the obvious truth of the text.   The first verse of the gospel makes it clear that Jesus is God !!   He did not stop being God when he became man any more than you stop being Judy when you change clothes.  Because of verse one, there is no reason to deny that He was and is God.  JD

Not so JD; why do you add your understanding to the written text?  It was the Jews who were angry at
Jesus because he claimed to be the Son of God which in their eyes (being spiritually ignorant) made him
equal to God.  However, we who are quickened by the Words He Spoke know better because He clearly
said "The Father is greater than me" (John 14:28)  - The part of the Apostle John was to record these
words so that we can learn by them.  judyt

DAVEH:   I'm not sure I am understanding you correctly, Judy.  Are you suggesting that Jesus was not God?  And....do you not believe Jesus is God today, at this current time?  Am I also to understand that you do not believe (as the preacher claimed on the radio) that Jesus is (and was) fully God???

Judy Taylor wrote:
His Son was born of the virgin and grew into the man Jesus but scripture identifies Jesus as God's only begotten
Son rather than as God Himself.   I don't believe scripture majors on the physical so much as the spiritual since
God is a Spirit and those who live in a physical body (us) must worship Him in spirit and in truth rather than by
religion and ritual.  judyt

and are in the process of becoming again?

DAVEH:  I'm not sure I quite understand your question, Judy.  Yes, we do believe God has the form of a man, and that is Biblically taught.  Do you not believe he is in the similitude of a man?

Judy Taylor wrote:
The Bible doesn't but you do or am I wrong to think that the LDS teaches that god has the form of a man just
like us and that he is as we (men that is) once were and are in the process of becoming again?  judyt

Of course in your view it MUST be His person to fit LDS doctrine
If it was his Physical Form that passed by Pray Tell, what exactly did Moses see when he saw God's Back Parts?

DAVEH:   Yes Kevin, I must view it from my LDS perspective.  What I don't understand is why you don't also view it in a similar way, since the Bible says.......

[23] And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

.........What am I missing here, Kevin?  It seems like a very plain and straight forward passage that explains that God wanted Moses to see the back parts of his body.  Do you disagree???  Either Moses saw God's back parts, or he didn't.  The Bible says that he would see them.  I believe he did.  Are you really saying he didn't???    Rather than play word games, Kevin....just answer it plainly and s imply.  YES Moses did see God's back parts........or.......< B>NO, Moses did not see God's back parts.  Which do you believe, Kevin???
