My apologies to men.

Who is the master of sarcasim???

<SNIP> Yet you and your scholarly friends (most especially Lance) make the claim that an ordinary person (a plain old vanilla Christian ignorant of Greek) can not know God's Word for one reason or another - the corrupted transcripts being one ... reformation thinking being another ...

This is not true, Judy. I have not made this claim, nor does Lance make it.

Where have you been Bill? I didn't just pull this out of a hat. Lance has been making this claim so long as I have known him on this list.  Your claim might not be the same as his but your confidence is in your doctrine rather than God's Word.

I do think there is a paramont role within the Church for teachers -- trained, mature leaders who are gifted with the ability to disciple "vanilla" learners.

Hmmm .. and I think one of the greatest problems in the present day professing Church is that of "teachers" Seminary trained so called leaders who have never been born again and so do not know the way themselves and hinder others who seek to find it.

Did God in His foreknowledge miss this one??  No.

<SNIP> Using Gk grammar to make everything future is what the author of what you call "the polemic" was speaking of.

Your sarcasm is noted, Judy,

Actually it was not sarcasm Bill. I have no idea what the word means and didn't have time to look it up. ATST I didn't want to put my words in your mouth.

but I am not making "everything future." I am saying that the "to be" verb in this particular verse as recorded in the TR text is in the future tense and indicative mood.

Which conveniently aligns the words of Jesus in Matt 5:48 with doctrines that teach that noone can be holy or perfect even in Christ until the last trump when they will be miraculously changed in the twinkling of an eye (or something like that).  What about all the times God tells men to be holy and perfect under the old Covenant - you can find them in Leviticus, Genesis 17:1 and other places; should we look for a future tenses and indicative moods in the Hebrew for them as well?
