I think. With this option the socket will send a packet every x minutes and
will except an ACK answer from the server. If it doesn't then the socket will
be considered as lost.
So it allow to detect faster that there is a network issue.
This will result in Tryton by a reconnection.

I think it could also help to pass some restricted firewall. But will not
change about latency.
