Hi all,

I presently have Tryton 2.4.x in production on my servers (as well as an
instance for development). I am planning to create an instance of 2.6.x
for development/experimental purposes so I can get familiar with module
development on that version.

On my laptop/workstation I have the Tryton client installed via Debian
repositories and have held it back to v2.4 so as not to be incompatible
with the v2.4.x servers I have to support (since common wisdom is that
major releases have to match). However at the same time it would be
good to be able to be able to log in to either version from the same
client without messing with virtual machines etc. on the client side.
What would be the best way to go about having a client machine that can
easily connect to v2.4 and v2.6 systems?

I am assuming that like modules the client major releases have to match
so any API changes do not cause issues. Is that a valid assumption or
can I use the 2.6 client to connect to 2.4 systems without incident
unlike with modules? Failing that, what is the best way to have Tryton
client 2.4 and 2.6 on the same client (in this case a Debian Wheezy
machine with GNOME desktop)? The debian repository version naturally
wants to have only one version installed simultaneously. Should I do
something with python virtualenv? some magic with APT?

Thanks in advance for your help.
