Hi list,

I'm shortly getting my hands on a Dell Poweredge 2800 server with dual 64-bit Xeon processors. I would like to install Trustix on this machine and I was wondering if there is a 64-bit optimised version or something similar?

at the mo I think not... but I'll start a Athlon64 optimized build when I can get my hands on a such machine... keep in mind that you have to rebuild the whole thing optimized for the processor, and rebuild all the upgrades that come after... a big task :)
right now I'm maintaning some AthlonXP optimized packages, just for fun, but I think it whould be better (because of thrusted source) if Trustix Peepz maintain and give out an optimized version (i686, athlonxp, xeon64, itanium64, athlon64, etc.)...
I can do it if there's some interest, but I'm still confused on how to automate such build process, Trustix Peepz help appreciated ;)
As we are talking about, I'm using -grsec kernels and added some (in my opinion) nice patchs, I'll be pleased to maintain a grsec kernel and maybe a desktop version kernel, but I need help on building kernel rpms...
...mmm ok maybe I'm talking too much ... cheers

I'm not new to Linux, but I am new to the 64-bit Linux world, so any helpful advice or pointers would be appreciated. I've Googled and checked the Trustix wiki but I can't seem to find anything. What's the situation with Linux and 64-bit processors?

Thanks for your help,

Andy
