Ehlo,

there's a nice tool :) it's name is authfail, and it just set an iptables 
rule to lock out any intruder who fail x attempt to login to ssh...
it's a deamon written in python so no need to compile... you can have it 
from my repo tsl.chung.li ... I'll upload latest version tomorrow...
