Hi, I am writing this message after spending approx. 10 hours installing TSL 3.0 on my computer. I have finaly made it working but writing this message in hope that it can help someone.
I have downloaded and successfully burned the ISO image. When installing on a dual core intel pentium d based machine the installation went smoothly until I tried to reboot the system after install. It did not boot. Checking the install logs revealed very strange message: something like "no bootloader installed" although I have grub selected and configured properly. Further searching the logs revealed that the configuration for grub was written later than the attempt to install it (by viper). The solution: 1. I had to run the grub install right after the viper finished. I have used the very same command line as viper (I have taken it from the viper logs). Just grep for grub in the logs. 2. I had to run fdisk and set the bootable flag on the partition containing the bootloader as the install did not do that for me. I had to do both 1. and 2. when the finish screen of viper was still visible (from Alt-F2) for the mounts to stay in the state where viper was using them - exiting viper unmounts the needed mounts. And BTW the logs are at different location than the last screen of viper is suggesting (and are non-existant after the reboot since they have probably stayed on some temporary fs). Hope this can help if someone will get into the same trouble as myself. Best regards, David PS.: I apologize for disturbing if this is a known problem - but it took me very long time to figure out. I have tried the install at least 10 times before finding the root of the problem. _______________________________________________ tsl-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.trustix.org/mailman/listinfo/tsl-discuss
