Yes, but to automate the whole process can be risky, and requires a lot
of thought. You don't want it to start copying back old mail if you just
reboot the main server ("Hey, I deleted these 100 emails yesterday! The
computer haunts me!!!!"). Script it: yes. Automate it: I'd be careful.

However this behaviour is not per default and you won't get any folders.
But yes, doable. If you had maildir on the POP-server you can simply
copy those over too, of course. You still won't get the folders, though
(you obviously know this, but someone reading the thread might not...).

Hehe, indeed. However as local government we have retention policies (or
at least I'm forced to state it ;).
I just told them that email not moved will be lost sometime in the
future (when their machine inevitably fail as most of our rig is pre
year 2000).
