Everything Peter said is correct, with one augmentation: it can take up to 5 minutes before you have a DNS entry, as ITS's WINS-to-DNS transfer refreshes every 5 minutes. To confirm that lookups in both directions work, use the host command: host yourname.truman.edu and host 150.243.xxx.yyy where xxx and yyy are your assigned IP from DHCP. -- Jon Beck, PhD mailto:jbeck@;truman.edu Assoc Professor, Computer Science 2162 Violette Hall Truman State University 660-785-7233 Kirksville, MO 63501 http://vh216202.truman.edu/ ----------------------------------------------------------------- To get off this list, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with Subject: unsubscribe -----------------------------------------------------------------
